An Overview of the Different Areas of Our Strategic Work

During the autumn, Kaunis Iron has intensified its strategic work, as previously communicated in the news update on: Strategic Work for a Long-Term Sustainable Mining Operation. This work spans our entire business, our future opportunities, and our long-term development.
The strategic process involves many parts of the organization, and numerous colleagues are engaged in various aspects of the work — mining, permitting, and process/product development. Within these areas, we are addressing questions such as:
- How we can utilize our deposits in the best possible way
- How we can develop our processes and products
- How we can move further up the value chain
- How we can improve our logistics and which alternatives are realistic
- How we can strengthen our market position and partnerships
- How we can secure the right permits for the future
All these areas are interconnected pieces of the same puzzle and must be evaluated together — technically, economically, environmentally, and socially.
Hans Djurberg, Sustainability Manager at Kaunis Iron, summarizes:
“During the autumn, we have worked broadly, turned every stone, and explored all extremes as we gathered as much data, knowledge, and experience as possible. The work is now entering the next phase, focusing on a number of core areas and how they can be combined to shape our future mining operations, provided that the environmental permit gains legal force.”
In the near future, we will share more about the areas we have been working on and the insights we have gained. Stay tuned!
