The mine of the future
Kaunis Iron focuses on sustainable and responsible mining operations. At the Tapuli open-pit mine, we drill, blast, and extract the ore, which is then processed into iron ore concentrate at our state-of-the-art processing plant. Our product is subsequently transported by truck to Pitkäjärvi and then by rail to Narvik, from where it is shipped to customers around the world.
We aim to develop a mining industry for future generations here in Tornedalen — creating long-term stability that secures our company and the jobs we generate for years to come. To this end, we are actively conducting exploration, which involves thoroughly investigating and mapping potential iron ore deposits within and around the existing mining area in Pajala.
